Oh Tasty n Sons, How I Love Thee…

This weekend, we headed down to Portland to check out the Portland Bazaar that DesignSponge organized with a bunch of different local vendors from the PDX area. I’d hoped to get a little Xmas shopping done, but saw more things that would have been for me, like these excellent iPhone cases from Grove. So I held back. Before we hit the Bazaar, we went for brunch at Tasty n Sons.

My love for Tasty n Sons is documented, but since the menu changes regularly, and we sat at the comumunal table with better light, it’s fair game to report back on what we had this weekend. Up top, that’s the open faced Monte Cristo with maple. Ham and cheese, served on griddled brioche, so it has an almost French toasty quality magnified by its rest in a pool of maple syrup. Yes, really.

To get a little veg, we also had the radicchio with parmesan vinaigrette. Simple, delicious and a generous portion for $7. We also shared the reuben. It was a little light on the pastrami for a $10 plate (but we’re spoiled by Refuge in San Carlos, CA). The amazing part is that for the three dishes plus a tea and a coffee, we walked out with brunch for under $30. Oh Tasty n Sons, why can’t you be in Seattle?
